From your mix to a finished WAV

Mastering is the final treatment of a stereo mix: shaping its tone, dynamics and output level so the whole track feels cohesive. WAVLNGTH lets you explore that finish in your browser. Load a song, choose a character, adjust intensity and compare the result with your original before exporting. You can try a completed master as a guest, then create a free account for unlimited masters.

Start with a mix you already like. A master cannot remove a wrong note, isolate a buried vocal or undo distortion that was recorded into the source. If something sounds wrong in the mix, fix it there first. Leave your master bus unclipped and export a lossless stereo file when possible. There is no need to force your mix to a particular loudness before loading it.

Eight characters, your decision

Signature, Prism, Drift, Voltage, Patina, Horizon, Impact and Orbit offer different starting points. Use them to audition a finish rather than treating a genre label as a rule. A dense beat, an intimate vocal and a spacious instrumental can respond differently to the same character. Try a few with the section of the song that matters most to you.

Intensity changes the strength of the treatment. Start gently, move upward and listen for what happens to the vocal, kick, bass and cymbals. The three tone controls let you refine low, middle and high frequencies. When the change loses punch or gets tiring, back it off. The character you prefer on one song does not have to be your choice for the next.

Compare sound, not just volume

A louder version can seem more exciting even when it has lost detail. Use level matching during your comparison, then switch between the original and master at a comfortable headphone or speaker volume. Listen to the quiet opening, the busiest chorus and the transition between them. Pay attention to bass definition, vocal clarity and the space around transients.

LUFS describes perceived loudness over time. True peak estimates peaks between digital samples. The optional streaming-safe ceiling limits the export to −1 dBTP. It is a useful headroom choice, not a promise that every streaming service uses one loudness target or that an already clipped source can be repaired. Choose a result that works for your song rather than chasing the largest meter reading.

Your audio stays on your device

The standalone mastering tool processes audio locally. It does not upload your song to render a master. The browser stores a guest-use flag; signing in establishes your free account allowance. Normal account and website requests still use our servers. Export downloads a 24-bit WAV at 44.1 kHz to your device.

You can also choose to master while submitting a song to a live host. That step is optional. Submitting sends the selected original or mastered file to private storage so that host can play it. A host may broadcast the review on their livestream. Mastering locally and submitting to a show are separate choices. Read how privacy works.

Which files can I use?

Use WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG or AIFF when your browser supports decoding that format. The file limit is 100 MB and six minutes, with an additional decoded-audio safety limit. Browser and device memory can affect larger files. A lossless original avoids adding another lossy encoding step; converting an MP3 to WAV does not restore information already removed.

Keep the original mix and audition the exported file before releasing it. Naming both versions clearly makes it easier to compare later and to send the right file to a host or distributor.

Ready for another pair of ears?

A mastering tool gives you a version to evaluate. A live reviewer gives you another person’s reaction and, when they leave them, notes tied to moments in the song. Neither guarantees a release will succeed. Use the two together: prepare a mix, compare your master and ask a host a specific question about the track.

Choose a host whose taste fits your music, check the queue and submit for free. If you already have a master you love, submit that file directly. Find a live music review or read the preparation guide.
